Our Mission

It’s simple.  Komen Baton Rouge is fighting breast cancer.  How?

  • * Funding programs that support those in the fight to save lives
  • * Educating individuals about breast cancer risk factors, the importance of early detection and the resources that are available to them
What We Do

Komen Baton Rouge is the local source for funding programs that provide breast health services, breast cancer education and outreach in our 10-parish service area.

We empower the residents in our service area with information about the importance of early detection and breast health. We donate 75 percent of net funds raised to vital local breast health services, and dedicate the remaining 25 percent to national research to find the cures.

Since 1996, Komen Baton Rouge has invested more than $3.5 million into the Greater Baton Rouge area via its annual community grants program to fund breast health programs and services for medically underserved Greater Baton Rouge residents.

The Difference We Make

Komen Baton Rouge is part of the big picture to eradicate breast cancer.  But we’re also focused on the local needs of our neighbors.  We are dedicated to educating the residents in our service area about breast cancer and the resources available along with funding life-saving screening and treatment programs for our neighbors currently battling this disease. Komen Baton Rouge grant funds supported the following services during 2014 - 2015:

* 1765 Mammograms

* 834 Clinical Breast Exams

* 428 Breast Cancer Diagnostic Services

* 130 Transportation Assistance

* 110 Prescriptions Assistance tr

* 74 Support Group Services

* Breast cancer education and breast self-awareness materials for healthcare providers and the community
